For the indication, visible from afar, of the detonation of a practice seabed mine a floatable detonation-indicating body 30 is ejected from the mine by propellant gases from charge 40. After reaching the water surface, the body fires at least one signal body 51 to a height of at least 50 m over the water surface. The portion of detonation-indicating body which remains behind on the water surface is then destroyed after a given time. The charge 40 is ignited by gases from igniter 12 connected by a cable (13) to the mine detonator; pressure of propellant gases activates a timer for self-destruction. As the body 30 is ejected, the ingress of water activates a timer for detonation of signal bodies 51. A series of tubes (10) each containing a body 30 may be provided, the mine detonator selecting that tube pointing most closely to vertically upwards. <IMAGE>
