摘要 Waste, esp. household waste, is handled within a partly or completely enclosed waste unit. Within the unit biological reaction (speeded up) are initiated. The resulting gases are collected in the top region of the unit and piped off, while water seeps through to the bottom region and is led off. The waste unit, which is built on site, comprises flat horizontal (5) and cylindrical vertical regions (10) of porous material, accessible from the outside by means of pipe systems (6,7,9) which transport the biological decomposition products from the unit or deliver any necessary nutrients, air or water to speed up the reaction. The pipe systems (6,7,9) are divided into separate gas and fluid systems and where they occur in the horizontal layer (5) the gas transporting pipes (7) are arrayed below the fluid transporting pipes (6). The vertical (10) and horizontal (5) regions pipe systems are independent. The waste unit has a temporary cover (13). USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is carried out on site and produces composted inert end products. In comparison with the main alternative of incineration there are no dangerous air emissions.
