The chair lift seats are carried by a continuously moving cable (10), coupled by a standard pinch (14), passing over support rollers and pulleys. The pinch cylindrical body (18) extends from the cable, with fixed (16) and moving (17) jaws clamping the cable. The moving jaw, carried by a stem (19) sliding in the body, is closed by a coaxial spring washer stack (26) over the stem. Jaw opening is controlled by a module (30), fixed (25) to the body, with a guide (42) and a control lever (40). This lever may operate on the stem through a cam (36), from the control rail. ADVANTAGE - Other releasable couplings are complex. This uses a standard pinch, easily modified.
