Blending and liquefaction of gas mixtures, - esp for synthesis gas purificn

Two gas streams whose main components have widely differing boiling temps. at the same pressure, the value of which is higher than the highest of the critical pressure of the main components, are cooled to a temp. lower than the highest of the critical temps. of the main components, and are then mixed. Pref. one gas stream is of H2 or He, and other is N2, A, CO, CH4, C2H6 or C2H4. Esp. used in prepn. of N2/H2 mixture for ammonia synthesis, final pressure of blended stream after expansion/liquefaction process being maximised, (ca. 200 atm.), ensuring economical operation of subsequent stages.
