<p>Electroslag melting-casting installation for the prodn. of ingots having central bores, comprises several electrodes in parallel, which are arranged symmetrically in a stationary mould assembly, comprising a water cooled outer wall part, and a water cooled core and bottom part, which may be a single unit. The electrodes are hollow and metal is fed into the mould molten through the electrode bores, the electrodes being raised as the melt plus slag level rises, the slag having been introduced either in the solid or liquid form prior to the metal. On completion, the electrodes are raised and swung away permitting dismantling of the ingot mould assembly by removal of mould walls, followed by lifting of ingot from the base. The mould is tapered depending on the relative dismantling sequence.</p> |
