The method and apparatus displays the numeric characters of the multiplication teaching aid. The teaching aid helps preschool children learn the multiplication rule with amusement, specially makes the electric power unnecessary because of its mechanical structure. The apparatus comprises a numeric character selection button (12) driven by racks (20,20'), gears (14,14') and a spring (23); a plurality of dark latticed chambers (9) made of opaque synthetic resin; a rotational axis rod (29) made of opaque synthetic resin; a rotation shaft (29) transversely equipped in a groove (30); a coloured rotational reflector (38) rotatingly mounted on the shaft (29); a plate spring (31) equipped in order to make a horizontal protrusion (41) in contact with a vertical protrusion (31).
