The invention relates to a system for exchange of data without physical contact between a portable, generally mobile unit, and a terminal or a set of terminals, which is or are generally fixed. The objective is to produce a modular unit (15) comprising a portable object (30) (especially a memory card) which can be inserted either into a transmission/reception device (20), or into a transfer device of another type (a ISO reader (10) for example), doing without interface management and minimising the energy consumption of the unit.
