A device for rubbing and false twisting rovings and the like e.g. for use in a drafting zone comprises two approximately equal sized discs 3, 4, parallel and partly overlapping and a guide 2 situated on the feed-in side of the discs, and in line with the common chord of the discs, the guide 2 being not more than 10mm from the entry point between the discs and arranged to act as a twist stop. The discs 3, 4 are provided with a roughened surface and one has a resilient elastic layer between the roughened surface layer and the disc itself. The guide 2 comprises see Fig. 3 not shown a channelled member (13) on a base plate (12) in conjunction with a guide hook (14) also in the plate and offset from the axis of the channel. In Fig. 5 not shown the guide comprises a flat L-shaped plate (15) with a downwardly directed lip (17) on the inner side of one of the limbs, the material being passed over the plate and then downwardly and to one side to pass about the lip. In the latter case the guide is arranged to partly overlap one of the discs. |
