1304295 Thermostats ELVE ELETTROTECNICA SpA 19 April 1971 [13 March 1970 22 Jan 1971] 24022/71 Heading G1D [Also in Division H1] A thermostat for use in a car cooling system comprises a bimetallic element 7 located at the closed end of a case 1 and acting on a longitudinally moveable peg 8 of thermally and electrically insulating material, the peg 8 being arranged to engage a flexible arm 9 carrying a contact 10 and urge the contact 10 into abutment with a contact 15 fixed to a dielectric mounting 5 and complete an electric circuit, an annular sealing element 22 being interposed in the case 1 between the mounting 5 and a guide 19 for the peg 8. As shown, the dielectric mounting 5 may be provided with slots 13, 17 in which are arranged conductors 12, 16, the conductor 12 supporting the arm 9 and the conductor 13 supporting the contact 15. The peg 8 is guided in its movement by a tubular guide 19 which retains the element 7 in the case 1. The case 1 may be provided with an inwardly turned edge portion 3 which bears on an external flange of the dielectric mounting 5 to retain the guide 19 in position through the annular element 22. The case 1 which may be provided with an externally screw-threaded portion 2 may be of metal or of metal covered with plastics material which may be reinforced with glass fibre. |
