Veterinary compositions (useful in the promotion of the growth of poultry or fowl and/ or the control of histomoniasis in poultry or fowl), presented in the form of dosage units, comprise at least 25 mg. of 5-nitrofurfural 3, 5-dinitrosalicyloyl hydrazone per dosage unit, in association with a non-toxic carrier or excipient. The compositions may be administered orally in the form of tablets, capsules or in conjunction with a foodstuff or drink; or parenterally using a sterile, parenterally acceptable liquid carrier and being contained in ampoules or multi-dose flasks. The compositions may also contain vitamins, antibiotics or other growth stimulants. Preferred additives include 3-nitro-4-hydroxyphenylarsonic acid and arsanilic acid. |
