PURPOSE:To decompose ozone by a highly active and long-lived catalyst for the decomposition of ozone, obtained by the procedure in which a divalent nickel ion is supported on an A-type, X-type, and/or mordenite series zeolite and then calcined. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst used for the decomposition of used ozone is obtained by the procedure in which at least one selected from A-type, X-type, and mordenite series zeolite is brought into contact with an aqueous solution containing a divalent nickel ion to support 0,01-4wt% divalent nickel on the zeolite by ion exchanging and then the zeolite so treated is dried and calcined. The catalyst, having a high catalytic activity, long life, and high safety against ignition and explosion, can decompose ozone at ordinary temperature regardless of the concentration of ozone. |
