Disclosed herein are novel benzopyrans represented by formula (I) <IMAGE> (I) wherein R1 is trifluoromethoxy or beta , beta , beta -trifluoroethoxy; R2, and R3 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, lower alkyl containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms, cyclo lower alkyl containing 5 to 8 carbon atoms, <IMAGE> or R2 and R3 are joined to form (-CH2-)n wherein n is 4 to 7; or R2 and R3 are joined together to form (-CH2-)mCO- wherein m is 3 to 6; or R2 and R3 are joined together to form <IMAGE> wherein R4 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkoxy containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms, amino or mono- or disubstituted alkyl amino wherein said alkyl groups contain 1 to 5 carbon atoms and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts and solvates thereof, to a process for preparing them, to pharmaceutical compositions containing them, and to their use in the treatment of hypertension, asthma, imitable bladder syndrome, and irritable bowel syndrome.
