PURPOSE:To improve the impact resistance and mechanical strength of the sheet material and embody low specific gravity material by a method wherein the sheet material consists of expanded phenolic resin having the specified weight per area and reinforcing fiber dispersed in the phenolic resin. CONSTITUTION:Foaming agent-containing solventless resol type phenolic resin 2 is compounded to releasing film 1 made of polyester or the like. Next, reinforcing fiber 3 such as glass fiber, polyimide fiber or the like is dispersed onto the resin. By drying and hardening the resin, expanded phenolic resin sheet 5 having the thickness of 0.1-5.0mm and the weight per area of 50-3,000g/m<2> is obtained. After that, either one of releasing films 1 and 4 is peeled off. Next, if it is necessary, core material 6 made of felt, urethane foam or the like is placed on the expanded phenolic sheet material 5 and laminatingly integrated by thermally hardening. Since the sheet material is made of phenolic resin foam, in which reinforcing fiber is dispersed, the sheet material is excellent in productivity and realized to the turned so as to have low specific gravity. |
