<p>PURPOSE:To improve resolution or utilize a low speed element by constituting a measuring line of a plurality of scanning lines and arranging measuring points on each scanning line in a zigzag form. CONSTITUTION:A CCD camera is placed upward a road, and a picked image signal is captured into a brightness data converting part after A/D conversion. A measuring line of sensing lines A, B is constituted of a series of a plurality of scanning lines, and numerous measuring points (Pn, m) are placed on these lines with approximately equal intervals while horizontal positions deviate among the respective scanning lines. That is, the measuring points (Pn, m) belonging to each scanning line are arranged in zigzag, and they are handled as one line re-arranged after being collected for each scanning line and only a horizontal direction being noted. Thus lateral resolution can be informed equivalently. Brightness levels of these numerous measuring points are compared to corresponding brightness levels only when there is no automobile but only a road, and if sufficient difference is found, existence of an automobile is determined.</p> |
