<p>PURPOSE:To provide the synthetic medium comprising a gel obtained by allowing a specific crosslinked polyalkylene oxide to absorb water or a culturing solution, having a stable quality, not affected by ions in the culturing solution and excellent in the stability of water content. CONSTITUTION:The synthetic medium comprises a gel obtained by allowing a crosslinked polyalkylene oxide to absorb water and/or a culture solution, the crosslinked polyalkylene oxide being produced by crosslinking a polyalkylene oxide having a weight-average mol. wt. of 1000-6000000 and having a pure water absorbing volume of 10-50 times that of its self weight. The polyalkylene oxide of the raw material includes ethylene oxide homopolymer. And, the polyalkylene oxide is preferably reacted with a diisocyanate such as tetramethylene diisocyanate to form urethane crosslinking bonds.</p> |
