PURPOSE:To shorten the outside length of a starter motor by shortening the frontward length of an overrunning clutch in relation to a snap ring fitted to an output shaft. CONSTITUTION:It is so formed that the rear end part inner periphery of an annular engaging groove part 41 of a clutch outer 41 in the receding position is placed across the outer periphery of a snap ring 27. The rear end part inner diameter of the annular engaging groove part is made larger than the end part outer diameter of the supporting part of the supporting frame of a bearing 18 for supporting the rear end side of an output shaft 7. |
