PURPOSE:To prevent the contact of a recording means and a material to be recorded at the time when the abnormality of the operation of a device is detected and improve the picture quality by separating the recording means from the material to be recorded more than at normal recording when the abnormality of the operation of the device is detected. CONSTITUTION:A cam driving motor 37 is driven by a command from the CPU of a recording device and cams 36 are turned, and the height of a base upper section 25A is lowered from the position of normal operation to the position of retreating. Consequently, the space of a recording head 8 and a platen 19 can be increased and separated. Concretely, the base upper section 25A is set at the position of retreating when each cam 36 is rotated 180 deg., and the base upper section 25A is returned to the position of normal operation when the cams 36 are further rotated 180 deg.. When the abnormality of the device such as the defective carrying of a material to be recorded occurs, the base upper section 25A is lowered to a section just under the upper section 25A before a carriage 7 is returned to a home position, and operation, in which the space between the recording head 8 and the platen 19 is lengthened, is conducted. |
