PURPOSE: To avoid disastrous overpressure by constituting a rupturable pressure relieving apparatus having a wall and an asymmetrical indentation in the wall, and a disk on side of which forms recess and the other side forms protuberance. CONSTITUTION: A rupturable disk 16 clamped between an inlet support member 12 and an outlet support member 14 has an annular base flange part 22 connected to an almost circular asymmetric indentation 24. The indentation 24 forms a recess 26 on one side and a protuberance 28 on the other side of the rupturable disk 16. The indentation is formed by a truncated asymmetric conical part 30 connected to a dome part 32. The asymmetry of the indentation creates an inversion initiation face in the indentation having a smaller angle with the annular base and less resistance to inversion than the remainder of the indentation. The inversion causes rupture of the disk and relieves overpressure. |
