<p>A sensor for use in on-line, real-time sensing of the condition of a fluid, such as the level of contamination of an engine lubricating oil or the concentration of methanol in gasoline, comprises a body having a fluid flow passage extending therethrough for passing a sample of the fluid through the body, a slow wave sensing element disposed in the body for reducing the phase velocity of RF energy applied to the fluid, an input signal coupler for exciting the sensing element at the resonant frequency of the element, and an output signal coupler for producing an RF signal representative of the RF energy in the element.</p> |
