PURPOSE:To improve the operability of document edition, especially the setting of a range to be edited, by a document preparing device or the like. CONSTITUTION:It is supposed that necessity of specifying a range is generated in order to copy and edit a character string 'hereafter everyone ... quick key operation' to another position e.g. in the displayed state of a previously prepared document on the display screen SC of the document preparing device. When operation is switched to an edition mode, an edition range input request screen(ESC) is displayed on the lower part of the display screen. When start information SIN specifying the start of the edition range and end information EIN specifying the end of the edition range are inputted, the character range 'hereafter everyone ... quick key operation' in the range to be edited is decided and the display background of the character range is displayed differently from that of other character strings, so that which character string is selected and determined as an edition range can be clearly shown to an operator. Consequently the setting of a range to be edited can be executed by operation similar to a series of document preparing operation without using a coordinate input device or the like and the operability of specifying the range to be edited can be sharply improved. |
