PURPOSE: To optimize the spatial frequency response of an electrooptical(EO) total reflection spatial light modulator by selecting electrode length capable of presenting a desirable low spatial frequency operation. CONSTITUTION: The optical image bar is provided with an EO spatial light modulator 12 for printing out an image on the surface of a photosensitive recording medium 13; which is visualized as a photosensitive recording medium to be exposed at the time of advancing to the modulator 12 in a line pitch direction. In the absolute value of (f) smaller than about 1/P, a desirable frequency response is a frequency response close to Sin (πPf). Where (f) is spatial frequency and P is a minimum pixel pitch. In the absolute value of a smaller (f), a desirable frequency response is applied by specific electrode length. The specific electrode length is about E<1/2> P/γ. Where E is a ratio of the dielectric tensor component of a normal direction to that of a tangent direction andγis an elevation angle. Thereby a pair of desirable physical parameters are determined by selecting parameter values capable of obtaining a desirable spatial frequency.
