PURPOSE:To light up a desired arc tube with the simple structure and at a low cost by arranging a plurality of arc tubes of different luminescent colors inside an outer tube in parallel and repeating closing and opening of a switch. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of arc tubes 1a to 1c vacuum-tightly held by sealing the inert gas of metals of scandium, sodium, dysprosium, mercury, etc., contributing to luminescence and argon gas are arranged and electrically connected in parallel inside an outer tube 2, and a lamp base 3 is mounted. The light colors to be emitted by the arc tubes 1a to 1c are previously selected by a user, and the metals to be sealed and their composition rate are adjusted. When a lamp is lighted through a ballast, only one arc tube, which is easiest to be discharged, is discharged. Accordingly, the temperature of a once lighted tube rises for heightening charge starting voltage so as to light the other tube by turning the switch on again, and by repeating thereof an aimed lamp can be lighted. |
