PURPOSE:To improve a recording sensitivity and to obtain the magneto-optical recording medium having the stable sensitivity by confining the Curie temp. of a magnetic thin film to <=250 deg.C and confining the nucleus forming magnetic field of the magnetic thin film to <=100KA/m. CONSTITUTION:This magneto-optical recording medium is constituted by forming the magnetic thin film 3 consisting of >=1 kinds of transition metals and having the axis of easy magnetization in the direction perpendicular to the film plane of a transparent substrate 1, as a recording layer, on one surface of the substrate. The Curie temp. of the magnetic thin film is confined to <=250 deg.C and the nucleus forming magnetic field of the magnetic thin film to <=100KA/m. SiN, In2O3, ITO, SnO2, ZnO, etc., are preferably used for the first transparent thin film 2 to be provided on the substrate 1 in order to provide the passivation effect to prevent the magnetic thin film 3 against the corrosion by the humidity (moisture) of the outside world and the enhancement effect to increase the reflected Kerr rotating angle of the magnetic thin film 3 by optical multiple reflections. |
