PURPOSE:To register composite words occupying much of words to be registered in a dictionary only by specifying their corresponding translation words by providing this dictionary editor with an I/O device for specifying a word to be registered in the dictionary and its translation word by specifying extracted composite word informa tion and a dictionary information forming device for registering the specified word in the dictionary. CONSTITUTION:The dictionary editor has the dictionary 1 for storing information necessary for translation, a translator 2 for analyzing an original text 6, forming translated sentences and outputting their bilingual information 7, a bilingual information analyzer 3 for analyzing the information 7 and extracting composite word information 8 relating to the candidate of a composite word, the I/O device 4 for displaying the information 8 and specifying a word to be registered in the dictionary 1 and its translated word, the dictionary information forming device 5 for registering the specified word in the dictionary 1, and so on. Since the registration of each composite word in the dictionary 1 can be executed only by specifying its translation word, the frequency of difficult judgement can sharply be reduced, time required for dictionary registration can be shortened and the dictionary programmer's mental load can be reduced. |
