CONSTITUTION:This magneto-optical recording medium is formed by successively forming the first protective layers 2A-1, 2B-1, 2C-1, 2D-1, 2E-1, 2F-1, 2G-1, 2H-1, 2K-1, 2M-1, 2N-1, 2P-1, as interference layers, recording layers 3A, 3B consisting of the amorphous alloys of rare earth elements and transition metal elements and the second protective layers 2A-2, 2B-2, 2C-2, 2D-2, 2E-2, 2F-2, 2G-2, 2H-2, 2K-2, 2M-2, 2N-2, 2P-2 on a substrate 1. The first protective layers and the second protective layers are formed of the rare earth metal elements or the film mixtures composed of the metal elements and the compds. of silicon, the rare earth metal elements or the film mixtures composed of the metal elements and the oxides of metals, the rare earth metal elements or the film mixtures composed of the metal elements and the sulfides of metals, the rare earth metal element or the film mixtures composed of the metal elements and the nitrides of metals.
