Rubber vulcanisation avoiding prior sample rheometer measurement - controlled by constant measurement of rate of change of internal pressure and stopping vulcanisation at below 1 bar per minute pressure

The internal mould pressure is continuously measured. The curing is stopped and the mould opened when the rate of rise of measured pressure drops below a predetermined value. The new value is 1 bar per minute. Also new is an installation having a mould (6) with heated platens (2,3) and having a pressure sensor (17) measuring internal pressure and providing a mould opening signal (19) when it drops below the predetermined value. ADVANTAGE - The constant measurement avoids the need to form prior rheometer requirements on samples or to mfr. prototypes.
