PURPOSE:To easily execute highly accurate focus adjustment by applying focus adjustment of an image pickup lens with an output of a image pickup linear CCD at a prescribed position. CONSTITUTION:An image pickup object is observed through a finder and a focal location is set to be in the center of the finder. A processing control section 601 generates a signal to a CCD driver 607 and the driver 607 drives a linear CCD 201. Furthermore, the driver 607 outputs a clock signal corresponding to a picture element to a memory control section 608 and the control section 608 manages the relation between a current address of a 1st memory 609 and the position of the picture element. Then a digital signal is sent from the linear CCD to the address location. The control section 601 gives an instruction to the control section 608 to allow the memory 609 to send picture element data. The focus adjustment is the contrast detection system and the control section 601 drives a pulse motor so as to maximize V=¦V1-V2¦+...+¦Vn-1-Vn¦, where picture element data by one scanning are N1, N2,...Nn. |
