PURPOSE:To provide a hydride secondary battery having a long charge/discharge battery life by lessening occurrence of shortcircuiting due to cracks produced in a hydrogen storage alloy layer at the outer peripheral side of a negative electrode when a positive electrode and the negative electrode are wound in the form of a vortex with a separator interposed therebetween. CONSTITUTION:In a negative electrode 2 prepared by causing a hydrogen storage alloy 2b to be retained, in a compressed condition, by a current collector 2a, this negative electrode, a positive electrode, and a separator are wound in the form of a vortex with the position of the current collector 2a in the negative electrode 2 being displaced to any one of the surface sides thereof from a central portion thereof as viewed in the thicknesswise direction thereof and with the side of the negative electrode 2, where the current collector 2a is disposed, being located at the outer peripheral side of the wound structure. |
