PURPOSE:To enable an effective exchange operation by processing VBR signals in the ATM system and processing CBR signals in the STM system. CONSTITUTION:The system is provided with a hybrid light exchange device 20 consisting of a light ATM switch and a light STM switch, a hybrid light multiplexing/separating device 30 connected to the hybrid light exchange device 20 and multiplexing and separating light signals, and a light subscriber terminal 40 connected to the light multiplexing and separating device 30. Namely, the hybrid light exchange device 20 has a built-in light ATM switch and a light STM switch. The hybrid light multiplexing and separating device 30 has a built-in ATM multiplexing and separating device and a STM multiplexing and separating device. Since signals from VBR terminal are switched by the light ATM switch and signals from CBR terminal are switched by the light STM switch, the effective operations for both VBR signal and CBR signal are enabled. |
