The fixing, esp. for a layer of a sheet material such as a mesh screen (4) to a supporting post (5), consists of a length of a semi-rigid e.g. metal wire (1), pref. with an outer plastic sleeve, and a rigid plate (2) with at least two through holes (3) for the wire to pass through and be fastened to the post. Each of the plates (2) is in the form of a disc which can be circular or oval in shape, or square with rounded corners, and can be made from a plastic material, e.g. polyethylene. ADVANTAGE - Reduced risk of tears in sheet material, and more convenient to use.
