The flashing indicators of a motor vehicle are supplemented to further clarify the intent of the driver. When a vehicle overtakes another and intends to follow this with a left turn (for traffic normally circulating on the right hand side of the road) the conventional indicator does not distinguish between pulling out to pass and signalling a left turn. To make this distinction a second indicator lamp, marked with an arrow, is activated by the driver. This is activated by provision of a second position on the turn indicator switch in the left turn direction, or by fitting a button to the indicator switch at some other convenient location. USE/ADVANTAGE - Increased road safety by clarifying signal that could indicate overtaking or turning from central position on road.
