PURPOSE:To recognize a desired irradiation field even if photographing is executed using a radiation shielding material or an exposure field diaphragm having a recessed shape, in the method of recognizing the radiation-irradiation field in accordance with the image signal obtd. from a recording sheet on which radiation image information is recorded applying the irradiation field diaphragm. CONSTITUTION:An edge candidate point is determined in accordance with the image signal along the plural directions included in the irradiation field from the image signal obtd. from the recording sheet. On the other hand, the respective points are detected when the points increasing beyond the prescribed value exist in the space where the differential value of this image signal directs from the prescribed point toward the end of the recording sheet. The region between the respective points and the edge candidate point is determined as the radiation- irradiation field when the respective points exist in all of the plural directions. The region enclosed by the respective points and the edge candidate point relating to the direction where the respective points exist is determined as the radiation-irradiation field when the respective points exist continuously in the prescribed or more directions and the image signal in the directions where the respective points do not exist is flat. |
