VCR WITH RECORDING SIGNAL STORAGE FUNCTION

The video cassette recorder includes a recording device for recording a video signal on a recording medium of a video cassette. A first detector senses an end of a recording medium of a cassette inserted in the recorder. A memory stores the video signals, and a mixer combines the two image signals and outputs a mixed image signal. A second detector senses a beginning or an operational portion of a recording medium of a video cassette inserted in the recorder. A controller stores an input video signal in the memory for a time interval when the first detector senses at a first time point an end of a first recording medium during recording of the input video signal on it. Subsequently a mixed image signal is recorded on a second recording medium for the time interval, when the second detector senses at a second time point a beginning or an operational portion of the second medium. The two images of the mixed image signal comprise respectively the current input video signal and the video signal stored in the memory, and the time interval comprising the interval between the two time points.
