Gas turbine plant - has free-piston engine compressor with combustion and compression chambers as input stage to gas turbine

The gas turbine plant has a free-piston engine compressor. This has a cylinder with a single reciprocating piston, forming a combustion chamber on one side, along with an air inlet valve and fuel injection nozzles. On the side walls are exhaust slits for the combustion gases which are uncovered as the piston moves back. A sensor in the side wall detects the piston movement so as to regulate the fuel injection. The far side of the piston creates a compression chamber in the cylinder which is connected to the inlet of the gas turbine by various valves. The exhaust of the turbine passes to a heat exchanger ,thence to the inlet valve for the compressor. ADVANTAGE Simplified version of existing design which is less expensive to manufacture and provides greater efficiency
