A process is disclosed for separating phosphatidyl choline from or in a phosphatide mixture by extraction or enriching, in that (i) the phosphatide mixture is contacted under a 2 to 50 MPa pressure with (a) an aliphatic alcohol having 1 to 12 carbon atoms; (b) an aliphatic hydrocarbon having 2 to 16 carbon atoms; and (c) a gas selected among CO2, methane, ethane, N2 and mixtures thereof. The component (c) is used in such amounts that the resulting mixture has at least two phases, one of which is a gaseous phase. The gaseous phase is (ii) separated and the phosphatides contained therein are recovered.
