The drive stage (30) is coupled to a controller (20). The discs are arranged as a stack (40) with a bank of heads (41) that are moved by a voice coil motor (36). The controller connects to the host CPU and has an interface (22), a processor (23), a memory (24), a serial/parallel converter (26), a modulator/demodulator (27) and a drive stage.
