Conductor shrouding - uses a deposited plastics to give a semi=finished circuit ribbon or circuit board

The shrouding for a conductive fabrics and the preparation of conductors for electrical and optical cables, and circuit boards, pref. of a glass fibre woven with cross linked high pressure polyethylene, has a plastics covering round the warps and links and the conductor filaments and also bonds the glass fibres to the circuit board or conductor ribbon. The plastics coating allows the twisted links to move at their twists. As the filaments and conductors are coiled round the core, they are displaced between coils for the plastics to be oriented between them to give coils at variable gaps. The plastics is deposited in a chamber, according to the temp. pressure and rotary speed of the rollers of the appts., through vapour deposition with a gas high pressure polyethylene and sputtering of high pressure polyethylene powder. The frequency of the alternating field in the chamber and the nominal value for the dielectric resistance of the ribbon and conductors are also taken into account. The deposited material, also containing a chemical accelerator, can also be a natural or modified natural material which can give the shrouding coating.
