A control system is applied to an installation producing continuously wound packages of textile material, destined for further process, and partic. in a spinning environment. By means of data processing devices in the initial stage, and an assessment of the data being utilised in succeeding stages, action is taken when initiated by the feedback, so that there is no great loss of time or material, as faults can be remedied promptly. The existing systems which may be updated by electronic feedback are between card and comber, card and drawframe, drawframe and comber, comber preparation and comber, drawframe and rotor spinning frame, drawframe and roving frame, fomber and drawframe, as well as ring spinning frame and winder, or any combination of these. In between any system there may be a conveyor to transport the package, and this is monitored at the same time. On the ring spinning frame (1) there is a service robot (5) which enables spinning to continue following a break of yarn in position (11). This detail is recorded, and the data sent via line (124b) to the control (22). This data includes the cop (110) position along the frame, and will be utilised in the winder (2).
