Wash- and abrasion-resistant aq. emulsion paints - comprising polymer dispersion binder, mono:ether cpds. of dicyclopentadiene as coalescing agent and usual additives

Aq. emulsion paints (I) comprises: (a) binder contg. aq. polymer dispersions; (b) coalescence agent contg. monoether cpds. of dicyclopentadiene of formula (II) and/or formula (III): R = divalent aliphatic 2-20C hydrocarbon; and opt.; (c) usual additives. Also claimed are (i) the use of (II) and/or (III) are coalescing agents in (I); (ii) process for improving the film-forming properties of (I) by adding (II) and/or (III); (iii) (II). USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) are used as paints for inner- and outer-painting, priming, tinting and emulsion lacquers. (I) have low film-forming temps. and are wash- and abrasion-resistant.
