Non-clumping urea granules - coated with a layer of melamine powder to prevent the granules sticking together

Urea granules (I) are coated with a layer of 0.01-0.6 wt.% melamine (w.r.t. total wt. of I) to prevent the granules sticking together. Amt. of melamine is 0.02-0.4 wt.%, pref, consisting of impure melamine from the mother liq. obtd. in the synthesis of melamine. USE/ADVANTAGE - Used for the synthesis of melamine (claimed). Only small amts. of melamine are required to prevent the granules from sticking together (contrast biuret), and the melamine does not interfere with the prodn. of melamine from the treated urea (contrast substd. s-triazines).
