The safety nut is produced with a slit which extends 300 deg. around the nut circumference and is opened to create a spring arm (B) binding on the bolt thread. Alternatively the arm may be separately produced and joined to the nut. Either process is executed fully automatically. A plastics ring or cap may be clipped into a recess around the nut to prevent the ingress of dirt. ADVANTAGE - Can be produced automatically with short cycle time. Secures nut against vibration.
