In a broad washing machine (100) for a steam permeable textile web (1) there are a steam injector (10) on one side of the web (1) and an extractor (20) on the opposite side capable of generating an underpressure of at least 0.2 bar. The outlet aperture (10') of the injector (10) and the intake aperture (20') of the extractor (20) extend over the entire width of the web. The web (1) is taken between the injector (10) and the extractor (20). Steam is injected into the web (1) and driven through it and extracted on its other side with the released residues.
