Flange seal with pressure limiting - has hard support ring with grooves to take sealing edges of sealing ring

The flange seal is in two parts; one outer support ring (4) and an inner sealing ring (6) with outer U-shaped profile to position O-ring shaped sealing edges each side of the support ring. The sealing edges locate in grooves in the support ring and are deformed by clamping the flanges together. The sealing edges can be asymmetric for added sealing effect. Double sealing profiles provide a high pressure seal, with additional sealing control via rubber cladding on the flanges. ADVANTAGE - Seals not destroyed by overtight fastening of flange bolts, improved sealing properties.
