The invention relates to a process for detecting the origin of a substance capable of being produced in a host microorganism transformed by genetic engineering, the said process comprises at least one stage where a test sample is brought into contact with an antibody directed against an antigenic preparation specific for the host microorganism and/or its culture medium. The subject of the invention is also an immunochemical reagent for the implementation of the said process, which reagent comprises at least one antibody preparation obtained using as immunogen, an antigenic preparation specific for the host microorganism and/or its culture medium.
