PURPOSE:To produce tris(2-hydroxy-2-propyl)benzene in high yield using a simple process. CONSTITUTION:The objective method for producing tris(2-hydroxy-2-propyl) benzene comprises steps for bringing a solution containing at least one trifunctional hydroperoxides selected from the group consisting of trihydroperoxides, monocarbinol dihydroperoxides and dicarbinol monohydroperoxides in a water-insoluble solvent into contact with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogen reducing catalyst. A hydroperoxide-containing solution in a mixed solvent is prepared by the presence of a water-soluble solvent in the reaction system and the hydrogen reducing reaction is carried out while dissolving water produced by the hydrogen reducing reaction in the solution in the mixed solvent. |
