PURPOSE:To improve the exhaust gas purifying device consisting of a catalyst carrier base body of a monolith type made of metal or monolith type made of ceramics as a main constituting element by mounting a metallic honeycomb body having a heater function of a large calorific value by resistance heating as the capacity to clean the exhaust gas at the time of starting an engine. CONSTITUTION:This exhaust gas purifying device is constituted by disposing the honeycomb body H having the heater function on the upstream side and the main catalyst carrier base body M on the downstream side to the exhaust gas flow in a metallic case. The honeycomb body H having the heater function is constituted by disposing the plural metallic honeycomb bodies H1 to H3 having electrode members in the central part at desired intervals. The respective honeycomb bodies H1 to H3 are so wired and connected to have the longest energization route to an external power source section so that sufficient resistance heating is attained. |
