PURPOSE:To produce a red pigment from microalgae. CONSTITUTION:A halophilic microalga, especially a platymonas is cultured to a stationary phase and the cultured body is recovered and treated with a solution of a low-molecular ammonium salt to effect the secretion of the accumulated pigment from the body. The platymonas is separated from the low- molecular ammonium salt solution and the pigment in the solution is separated and purified. Since the separated platymonas is free from damage, it is repeatedly usable for the production process of pigment. |
