<p>PURPOSE:To advantageously produce the subject compound exhibiting an eclosion effect on a plant parasitic nematoda and useful as a nematoda- controlling agent, etc., on an industrial scale by reacting a specified diene containing an endocyclic unsaturated group with a sulfonated maleic acid anhydride. CONSTITUTION:A diene [e.g. 1-(3-t-butyldiphenylsilyloxy-1-methylpropyl)-1,3- dimethyl-2-ethenyl-cyclopent-2-ene] represented by formula I (R<1> is H or a hydroxyl group-protecting group) is reacted with a sulfonated maleic anhydride (e.g. alpha-phenylsulfonemaleic acid anhydride) expressed by formula II (R<2> is an alkyl group, an aralkyl group or an aromatic group) in a solvent such as toluene at room temperature for 23hr. The resultant product is subsequently oxidized with m-chloroperbenzoic acid, etc., as necessary, thus affording the objective 1,7-dimethyl-2-sulfonyl-2,3-[3,4-E]furano-7-(1-methyl-3-oxypropyl) bicyclo[4.3.0]nonane derivative of formula III (X is a carbon-carbon bond or O).</p> |
