PURPOSE:To provide the spinel periclase type clinker suitable for the raw materials of shaped and castable refractories for which slaking resistance is demanded. CONSTITUTION:The spinel periclase clinker which has a compsn. contg. 98 to 29% MgO, 1 to 70% Al2O3 and the balance unavoidable impurities originating from raw materials and in which spinel crystals and periclase crystals coexist and distribute uniformly is rapidly cooled down to 500 to 1000 deg.C from a high temp. of 1700 to 1900 deg.C to obtain the clinker having <=4.2110Angstrom lattice constant of the periclase crystal in the clinker determined by an X-ray diffraction and having the excellent slaking resistance. This clinker is usable as a blank material for the shaped and castable refractories without changing the basic characteristics as the refractories, such as heat resistance. |
