PURPOSE:To obtain a new benzotriazole derivative having excellent corrosion- resistant effects. CONSTITUTION:A derivative of formula I (R1 is H or methyl; R2 and R3 are OH or R2 and R3 are bonded to form >0) such as a compound of formula II. The compound of formula I, for example, is obtained by subjecting equimolar amounts of a benzotriazole compound of formula III and itaconic anhydride to addition reaction in the presence of a solvent under atmospheric pressure at 50-100 deg.C for 4-6 hours to give a compound of formula IV and hydrolyzing this compound with water at 70-80 deg.C for 1-2 hours. |
